FACCIAMO DA NOI – a festival on abortion

Let’s meet for three days of celebration, initiatives, assemblies, workshops, self-education, relaxation, good food.

Let’s meet to share our experiences, to talk about abortion and organise: what have we experienced? What do we need, on our own and as a community? What is happening in the rest of the world?

There are so many realities that deal with access to abortion, accompaniment, mapping, narratives. Let’s meet, recognise and organise together. We do abortion ourselves!

Digital Self-Defence Workshop

Do you want to understand what policies and security levels are guaranteed by the apps and software you use for messaging, email, text sharing and more?

Do you want to have the tools to make informed choices based on your needs?

Do you want more? Like setting up a server to host your “home grown” services?

Would you like to get an idea of how to do it safely?

Then this workshop is for you! We have designed it on two levels: one, which can be accessed by anyone without computer knowledge, and another, more complex level, where we tell and, possibly, try to teach the computer security practices we use for Obiezione Respinta.

The session is open to all until the room is filled, to facilitate us please fill in the form https://my.liberaforms.org/lab-sicurezza-informatica by 2 May

10 a.m.

Pleasure Body with Giorgia Ohanesian Nardin.

Pleasure Body is a space of theoretical/perceptual/somatic investigation into pleasure curated by Giorgia Ohanesian Nardin, an Italian artist of Armenian descent who practices in the field of dance and live performance. Pleasure Body questions the language around the work of healing by creating a critical space towards words such as well– being, health, healing. Pleasure Body is a space for facilitating practices and conversations related to pleasure and rest, looking at the questions and multiple meanings included in these words.

The question/premise from which Pleasure Body starts is “How would you move if you had everything you needed?”

Other main questions are:

  • what are the ways in which the body internalises forms of systemic oppression?
  • how do these mechanisms subsequently translate themselves into our bodies, our relationships and our communities?
  • what do we mean when we refer to caring practices?
  • what have we internalised? And how do we get rid of what we have internalised in a non– consensual way?
  • what would our lives be like if they were based on a matrix of pleasure instead of profit?

Pleasure Body has a maximum capacity of 15 people. Previous experiences of dance and movement languages are not required to participate.

The session is open to all, but once the 15 people have passed, priority will be given to people who identify as Queer, Femme, Trans, non-binary, non-white (++) people with disabilities and who experience marginality.

You can sign up by sending an e– mail to obiezione.respinta@canaglie.org briefly describing the reasons that lead you to want to participate. Please indicate any specific needs.

Registration closes on 2 May

3 p.m.

**Reproductive justice and self– determination: an anti– colonial perspective. Talk with the Palestinian Feminist Collective (USA). **

In the debate on reproductive justice, the concept of self– determination is often intertwined with the right to abortion. But what happens when reproduction itself becomes an act of resistance?

In contexts of colonisation and genocide, such as in Palestine, motherhood and the survival of the collective body are hindered by systematic violence, while dominant narratives – often marked by white and colonial feminism – exclude these perspectives.

In this meeting with the Palestinian Feminist Collective, we will explore the link between reproductive justice and reproductive genocide, questioning the categories with which we talk about self-determination.

What practices and resistances emerge in colonial contexts?

How can we build a space for common dialogue between different feminist struggles?

4 p.m.

Workshop Words, Emotions and Consent with Francesca Svanera.

This workshop aims at creating a safe space for adolescents to discuss, raising awareness and creating reflection on the issue of consent through playful activities, guided readings and expressive techniques involving the mind and emotions.

The workshop will be led by Francesca Svanera, an author and activist, who works to raise awareness on the issue of sexual abuse against and of minors.

As a survivor of such traumas during her childhood, she has decided to share her experience to offer support to those who have experienced similar situations and to promote greater awareness.

In collaboration with the publishing house Capovolte.

The session is open to everyone under the age of 19 and does not require a reservation.

6 p.m.

Abortion, self-management and accompaniment: transnational practices of resistance and change.

A meeting with Shout Your Abortion (USA), Socorristas en Red (Argentina), Planning Familial (France) and Adiyah Collective (UK) to discuss abortion not only as a right, but as a political practice capable of transforming societies and legislation.

Through accompaniment, activism and building networks of solidarity, these realities have contributed to changing national laws and ensuring safe access to abortion, even in the most hostile contexts.

During the panel discussion, we will hear about their experiences, strategies adopted, and challenges faced in their countries. An opportunity to reflect together on how to build pathways for self-determination, support and change from below.

9:30 p.m.

Live concert by Ellie Cottino and Sista Sofy. Feminist Hip Hop.

Ellie Cottino, rapper from Turin. Her focus is on political issues and feminism, expressed with elegance and provocation on beats with a classic Hip Hop sound (Apologia della Troia). She deals with various topics: from neighbourhood (La Mia Gente) to social discomfort, from the church to the right to abortion.

In 2022, her first studio album, Verità Scomode, produced by Bonnot, was released. Since the release of the first album, she has had over 100 live dates throughout Italy and abroad (Marseille, Amsterdam etc.). In July 2024, she opened for Cypress Hill with Assalti Frontali at the Rugby Sound Festival.

Sista Sofy is a Dj from Piemonte, and she is a member of the Raggamuri family, known for making people dance to the Hip Hop and Reggae rhythms of her selecta.

Sista Sofy and Eliie Cottino have already played together at the Festival Alta Felicità 2024 in Venaus, but also in Ancona, Bari and Palermo.

Ellie’s second independent album, InCoroNazione, was released on 7 June 2024 (mixed and mastered by Il Buon Paul). InCoroNazione is about the coronation of a queen, or rather several Hip Hop queens, to celebrate the revenge of female Hip Hop. The goal of this album is to urge the nation to take a stand, unite in the face of oppression, and sing in chorus our dissent.
